Swamp Rabbit Trail

The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a multi-use trail that stretches 20-30 miles through Greenville, South Carolina, connecting key points in the city. Inspired by my personal love for the trail, I identified a lack in the existing resources—an absence of a user-friendly, legible map that highlighted key stops and features along the trail. The current interactive map, while digital, didn’t provide enough practical guidance, especially for those biking or moving quickly along the trail.

My goal was to create a simple, functional map that could be used both digitally (via a downloadable PDF) and physically. This map highlights essential spots such as breweries, parks, restrooms, and amphitheaters—key locations that visitors often look for while enjoying the trail. I aimed to design a map that would be easy to read and navigate, even while on the move, and offer a practical alternative to the more complex interactive maps.

In addition to the map, I designed a mockup sign that would fit the brand vision of the trail and serve as a recognizable trail tool. I also created a neck gaiter as merchandise, appealing to the active nature of trail users.

This project not only allowed me to combine my passion for design with my love for the Swamp Rabbit Trail, but it also gave me the opportunity to think about how design can enhance the user experience in outdoor spaces.
